What They're Saying
Visiting and home FRC teams have shared their thoughts about the FIRST in Hawai`i Regional competition. Year over year, teams have been impressed by the efforts by the Hawai`i Regional Planning Committee and enjoyed their experiences at the Hawai`i event.
Don't miss the opportunity to attend the 2012 BAE Systems FIRST in Hawai`i Regional!
From the 2010 FIRST in Hawai`i Regional:
"On behalf of team advisors, as well as the students of FRC Team #203 – Camden County Technical Schools / Campbell’s Soup of Sicklerville, NJ we wanted to thank you for the very positive experience we had at the 2010 FRC Hawaiian Regional! This was a once in a lifetime experience for them and our team. We have attended many regional’s in our past 15 years or so as a team, and this was one of the best organized of them all! Not only was the FRC regional an amazing experience, but to visit the wonderful natural, cultural and historical sites of Oahu was an exceptional educational opportunity. We documented our experience while in Hawaii via a blog, please check it out at http://cctsfirst.blogspot.com. We will be posting more pics, videos and stories there as well. Also, please extend our warmest regards to Gov. Lingle and our sincere thanks for her personal invitation to the regional. It was a true honor for us and the students to meet and interact with her. Thanks again!"
-Tony DePrince, Camden County Technical Schools (#203)
"Please extend appreciation to sponsors for meals! The two days of Lunches! The dinner! and Breakfast! Those were super helpful for the traveling teams especially. Also the discounts with hotels and air were appreciated. Mahalo to all."
-Fern White, Kohala High School (#2460)
"I want to thank you for a well run FIRST Program. Hawaii had a much better closing ceremony than any other FIRST Regional."
-Eric Hagiwara, Waiakea High School (#1056)
"All 53 Breakaway events around the world have come to a close servicing over 1800 teams from 12 different countries. I want to thank you so much for making the Hawaii event one of the most (if not the most) spectacular of them all!"
-Osa Tui, McKinley High School Robotics (#368)
"Thank you for the kindnesses and generousness of the hosted lunches and the team social at Hard Rock Cafe. They were much enjoyed and appreciated!"
-Bill Speed, Waipahu High School (#2477)
"After going to a regional outside of Hawaii, I want you to know how impressive the Hawaii regional is. From the perfect choice of venue to the professional, knowledgeable and friendly regional staff and volunteers - Everyone seemed like they wanted to be there and stay to help till the final table was put away - Everyone (leaders, staff and volunteers) seemed to be on the same page - from the unpacking to the final awards the experience just seemed a little more complete."
-Keith Imada, Maui High School (#2443)
From the 2009 FIRST in Hawai`i Regional:
On behalf of the Prospect High School Robotics Team (#2813), the "Gear Heads", I'd like to convey our appreciation to all of the Hawaiian teams (as well as all other competitors like us mainlanders, Bogalusa, Halcones, Lagablab), the Hawaiian Regional organization & volunteers, BAE Systems & NASA Sponsors, the Governor and Lt. Governor. The gracious outpouring of warm welcome and exuberant acceptance of our mainland team was so very heartwarming. It was like becoming a part of a large family. Your gracious and open inclusion into the event made the whole trip so very worthwhile and memorable. You can count on seeing us again….and again…and again.
We would particularly like to extend our appreciation to the Farrington High School (#2504) and Punahou High School (#2090) Teams who warmly selected the "Gear Heads" into their alliance for the most exciting challenge that we’ve ever experienced. It says a lot about cooperation and teamwork among the alliance of these young teams that permitted them to go all the way to the final match.
In addition to my summary appreciation, I’ve managed to capture a couple of the team comments that they wanted to have communicated
Mack- "What a great state, and culture and ambiance? Let’s stay!"
Chris- "I enjoyed coming to the Hawaii and was glad to participate in the competition."
Ryan- "Thanks for all the hospitality and help!"
Daniel- "I really enjoyed coming out an being in your alliance. We had a pretty good team."
To all of you who have included us in your emails about the events, thank you. It’s like being a part of the family, even after the competition. Mahalo!
