Become a Volunteer
We need volunteers for all of our programs and events. Use the list below to find an opportunity that matches your interest, time availability, and skills.
Team Volunteers
Robotics engages hundreds of adult team mentors and coaches volunteering with young people ages 6-18. Team mentors and coaches work side-by-side with our teams to build self-confidence, knowledge and life skills while motivating young people to pursue opportunities in science, technology and engineering. Volunteers have a variety of backgrounds, but all share the commitment to inspiring in young people, their schools, and communities, an appreciation of science and technology. The time needed for a team mentor or coach will vary with the program selected but generally these positions would require a 6-month commitment to team support.
Event Volunteers
All six of our robotics programs in Hawaii culminate with an exciting opportunity for students to show their skills. The competitive events are an engaging atmosphere for students, mentors and volunteers. Volunteers are the reason for the events' success.
FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC)
March 25-27, 2010
FIRST in Hawaii Regional Robotics Competition takes place for three days each March. The event requires a 1-4 day volunteer commitment. FIRST events are an exciting and fun-filled opportunity to see youth in action, applying the knowledge and skills developed through team participation. Each competition event depends on an abundance of volunteers with a broad spectrum of talents to support operating needs and competition demands.
